Why are the Dallas Cowboys called "Americas Team"?

Im not sure, all of America and most of Texas hates them and im pretty sure god hates them to.
Saints are god's team
Patriots are America's team

The reason the DALLAS COWBOYS are americas team is because its GODS team and GO COWBOYS!!!

It has something to do with the period of time when they were winning super bowls in the 70's

I believe the media dubbed them this in the 90s when they were good and drew record TV audeniences
I just read the Wikipedia entry an I guess it was way before the era I said.I do not remember hearing this at all prior to the 90s sorry!
